Bassian Thrush - Zoothera lunulata
On a camping trip to Barrington Tops National Park me and my wife went on a morning walk along the Gloucester River walking track. Stepping quietly along the track we saw movement ahead of us and camouflaged amongst the leaf litter was this little Bassian Thrush. We watched as it enjoyed the morning sun as it foraged along the track for a time before eventually hopping back into the trees to join a second Thrush that we had not noticed. I really enjoyed painting this detailed intricate piece with the bird’s feather patterns blending in against the surrounding colourful leaf litter.
