Variegated Fairywren - Malurus lamberti

This Variegated Fairywren was spotted on the track of the Bouddi Costal Walk in Bouddi National Park, Central Coast NSW. Darting in and out of the thick scrub by the sides of the track, multiple wrens were chasing each other around while I tried to get the camera to quickly focus to take a picture. Thankfully this male with his brilliant bright plumage stayed still just long enough for this great pose with his tail feathers splayed out in display. It was a joy painting this little wren with the mixture of bright colours striking against the black and grey shades.
