I observed this Grey Shrikethrush while on holiday with my wife in the tiny settlement of Copeland, just west of Gloucester NSW. In the winter morning we saw our visitor perched in the branches a few meters away from our porch, keeping a keen eye on the garden grass and us as we watched with camera in hand. I really liked the warmth of the yellow/orange leaves in the blurred background and the detailed lichen and moss branches of the foreground. The Shrikethrush’s stare conveyed its curious personality as it hopped from branch to branch to get a better view of us, as we ourselves sat silently still happily watching back.
