Gang-gang Cockatoo - Callocephalon fimbriatum
Original oil on linen board 40.6 x 50.8cm (16 x 20in), professionally framed to measure a full 54cm x 64cm x 3cm.
This happy Gang-gang Cockatoo was spotted in the early morning on the walking track through the bush to Evans Lookout, a beautiful scenic spot near Blackheath in the Blue Mountains NSW. He was one of a whole gang that was perched up in the trees, squawking and bickering amongst themselves, jumping from branch to branch. It was the first time I had seen these wonderful birds in the wild and it was an absolute pleasure painting this cheeky fella with the colour shifts of light and shadow created by the morning sun light.
